Halff Secures Two ACEC National Recognition Awards
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Halff earned a pair of prestigious honors from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), with two projects honored with National Recognition awards at a recent ceremony in Washington, D.C. The Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1 (HCDD1) Delta Reclamation Water Treatment Plant Pilot Study received recognition in studies, research and consulting engineering, while the City of Houston Stormwater Master Plan earned an accolade in water resources.

Staff from Halff, along with representatives from the Delta Reclamation Water Treatment Plant Pilot Study and the Houston Stormwater Master Plan, attended the ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards in Washington, D.C. in May.
The HCDD1 Delta Reclamation Water Treatment Plant Pilot Study advances a new approach to sustainable water management. Developed in partnership with HCDD1, the project recaptures water from hundreds of miles of drainage ditches, creating a new regional water source while reducing dependence on the Rio Grande River. The effort includes a 225-acre reservoir that supports water reclamation and improves regional drainage capacity.
The City of Houston Stormwater Master Plan delivers a comprehensive analysis of stormwater infrastructure across the city. The plan equips Houston with a fully integrated, citywide hydrologic and hydraulic model to assess how routine and extreme flood events affect the system. This data-driven approach helps identify vulnerabilities and prioritize investments in the areas most at risk. The master plan provides a framework to reduce flood risk, strengthen infrastructure performance and support long-term resilience. Earlier this year, the project earned the Eminent Conceptor Award at the ACEC Texas awards gala, recognizing it as the state’s top engineering achievement.
With these two honors, Halff has received seven ACEC National Awards since 2022. Previous winners include RM 620 Railroad Overpass and Roundabout (2025), Bastrop State Park Dam (2024), East Austin Emergency Utility Repair (2023), FAMU Way (2022) and the City of Fort Worth Storm Drain Rehabilitation Program (2022).
